Letter Concerning COVID-19 Impact

March 26, 2020

Dear Members of the HFG Community,

The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation (HFG) is continuing to monitor the coronavirus pandemic. It is a difficult time, to say the least, and our first concern is for the health and safety of all members of the Foundation community. We hope that you—our partners, grantees, fellows, scholars, alumni, and advisors—are keeping yourselves and those close to you as safe and healthy as possible amid these challenging circumstances.

Not surprisingly, we have made some changes at the Foundation. Following governmental guidance on mitigating the spread of COVID-19, HFG has closed its offices in New York City until further notice. All staff travel and in-person meetings are likewise postponed or canceled.

The Foundation, however, remains open for business. Our staff has been working remotely, and most administrative and grant-related activities are being conducted online. There may be times when disruptions to normal routines and resources impede or delay our operations. Should that occur, we ask for your understanding.

Given the closure of our offices, I also ask that you not rely on the mail to communicate with the Foundation, instead using email or telephone. For any grant-related or general questions that may arise, please contact Nyeleti Honwana at nhonwana@hfg.org or +1-646-428-0976.

Our thoughts very much remain with you, and our hope is for your ongoing health and safety during this trying time. Please do not hesitate to contact us should we be able to be of assistance.

Stay healthy!

Very truly yours,

Daniel F. Wilhelm, President
